Comfort & Joy hosts spaces that advance queer values, empower expression, and celebrate consent. Consent is not only sexy and communicative; it is essential, enthusiastic, and can be revoked at any time. If you hear anything other than an enthusiastic “yes,” please respect that as a “no.”

We are proud of the work our community members do in pioneering the art and science of consent. Queericulum advances queer culture through learning and development as well as educating on consent and boundaries. At our events, Vibe-Raters wear glowing collars and serve as visible hosts in our space while supporting consent.

We encourage diversity and open dialogue on consent. The queer community is diverse, and perspectives on consent may vary across venues. At our events, we consider this video a great foundation for our understanding of consent:

If someone seems unable to control their actions, communicate clearly, or make informed decisions, they cannot consent. If you ever feel unsafe in one of our spaces, please notify one of our Vibe-Raters, camp leadership, a member, or the board. We are here to connect you with available resources, including authorities if necessary.
